Amazon's One Medical is partnering with preventive care provider Reperio Health to offer Reperio's at-home health screenings alongside One Medical's hybrid primary care offering.
Portland-based Reperio Health works with employers, health plans, providers and individuals to offer an at-home preventative screening test, dubbed ReperioKit. Users can view their results in an app after taking the test and, through ReperioCare, can immediately connect to a licensed clinician who reads the results.
The FDA-cleared, Bluetooth-connected screening kit analyzes one's blood pressure, fat mass, glucose (fasting and non-fasting), heart rate, body mass index, cholesterol panel and triglycerides.
One Medical is a membership-based primary care organization that offers in-person visits and 24/7 virtual care. The company also enables provider messaging and prescription assistance.
Through the partnership, individuals who complete a Reperio screening will have access to a One Medical membership to receive ongoing primary medical care, if necessary.
"Preventive care is having its Amazon moment," Travis Rush, CEO and cofounder of Reperio Health, said in a statement. "Consumers today can get their groceries in an hour, a car to their door in minutes and they have a right to expect that same sort of convenience from their healthcare.”
THE LARGER TREND
Last year, Reperio Health secured $14 million in funding to expand nationally, beyond Oregon and Washington. The company scored $6 million in 2021.
According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion, few individuals in the U.S. receive all recommended preventive services due to a lack of awareness about which preventive services are recommended, as well as social determinants, like cost, a lack of a primary care provider or transportation, or living too far from providers.
Other companies offering at-home testing include LetsGetChecked, which offers at-home tests for sexual health, diabetes, thyroid, cholesterol and COVID-19, and Everlywell, which offers tests for sexual health, daily health, digestive health and hormone health.
