The Sunrise Group's digital sleep clinic, Dreem Health, is partnering with Sleep Cycle to allow users of the sleep tracking app to access Dreem's network of sleep-focused medical providers.

Dreem Health's digital clinic offerings include testing and diagnosing patients with sleep disorders, including sleep apnea, insomnia and restless leg syndrome. The model is powered by Sunrise's FDA-cleared mandibular sensor, which enables at-home diagnosis of sleep apnea.

The Sleep Cycle app captures and analyzes the sound of one's breath while they sleep to determine sleep duration, consistency, sleep stages and interruptions. The app then provides insights to users on how to improve their sleep quality.

The partnership will allow Sleep Cycle users who notice issues, such as excessive daytime fatigue, poor sleep quality, or signs of insomnia or sleep apnea, to connect with Dreem Health's sleep care specialists directly through the Sleep Cycle app.

"Consumer wellness tools are becoming gateways for clinical care," Laurent Martinot, cofounder and CEO of Sunrise, said in a statement. "By integrating with Sleep Cycle, Dreem Health is taking a massive step in its mission to make professional sleep care more accessible and approachable."

THE LARGER TREND

Sunrise Group announced it raised $29 million in funding in September, which the company said it would use to expand Dreem Health.

Last year, Sunrise acquired Dreem Health to "democratize and accelerate" access to sleep care by integrating Sunrise's proprietary diagnostic technology with Dreem Health's partnerships with major insurers and Medicare.

In May, Dreem Health announced a partnership with health insurer Humana to increase its members' access to sleep technologies and services.

The collaboration allows Humana members to have coverage for Dreem Health's digital clinic offerings.

Dreem Health is also part of a network that includes Aetna, UnitedHealthcare, Cigna, Anthem, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Medicare and Health Net of California.

In 2023, Sunrise received FDA 510(k) clearance for its home sleep apnea test that's placed on a user's chin at night.

The test uses a sensor that analyzes bio-signals from mandibular jaw movements, which can help calculate respiratory disturbance frequently found in sleep apnea patients.

It also evaluates airflow and oximetry during sleep to aid in diagnosing sleep-related breathing disorders and sleep apnea. Results are then sent to an AI-powered app that analyzes the data, which users can share with a healthcare provider via an online portal.

Meanwhile, Sleep Cycle has formed partnerships with several companies. On its website, the company says its partners include software company Revolut and meal delivery companies Hello Fresh, Factor and youfoodz.
